I have a VIN if anybody could run a Carfax for me that would be great!

Its a 2010 Mazda 5. No stick shift, heated seats and moonroof are more important to me cuz I’m an old.

Nice looking 5. I’m old as well, but the 6MT was more important to me than the other stuff.
i’d be concerned about the ride with the big wheels and lowered suspension. One of the things I love about mine is the 16" wheels and tires. It still grips well but doesn't break my back.

Oh that’s just an example lol the one I’m thinking of buying is stock. But basically I just want a little more space than a mazda3. Kinda tempted to rice it out or something though, maybe a cheap turbo. I just don’t really like Mazdas pre-skyactiv fwd clutches, I’ve driven lots of older 3s and one first gen 5 and they all feel like they slip too much to me.

This is the first Mazda I’ve owned and I haven’t had any issues with clutch feel. Sure, it’s not as good as the BMWs and Porsche I’ve owned, but it’s OK. The transmission, however, doesn’t like to be rushed, and it’s frequently a game of ‘beat the synchro’ when going from first to second.

What engine is in those 5's? I know they shared duratec engines with Ford for a while. Curious if it’s the 2.5

2.3L from what I can find.

What kind of mileage do you get with yours?

If it was the 2.5, and I randomly fell into a pool of cash, I smell a manual swap in the future...

I’ll be honest - it’s not that great. I have a short (2.3 miles) commute to work and rarely take long distance trips these days. On highway trips I get around 30, but around town is closer to 17-19, which isn’t far off the rated 21. If it weren’t for the 6MT and rev-happy engine it might do better, but I love to run it through the gears and zip up to redline, particularly when getting on the freeway since you’re less likely to get busted for that .
If you drive it like a 74 year old grandmother, like my mother did when I recently had surgery and wasn’t allowed to drive , it gets the EPA ratings (21/28) no problem.
I do wish they had made a model for the US with the SkyActiv engine, with its better fuel economy, but the 2.5l MZR in mine is a good, solid engine and I really don’t have any complaints about it.

The first generation had the 2.3 MZR, which Ford used in a number of products. The second generation, starting in 2012 (at least in the US) had the 2.5. That engine, when combined with the 6MT like in mine, makes this mini-minivan more fun than a practical vehicle has a right to be.

Gran Fury says the newer ones were the 2.5L, so manual swap may still be in your future!

No need you could buy the 2.3 or 2.5 with a manual in base trim at least. This is the 2.3 though.

from what I read, the 2.3 is essentially the same as the 2.5 sans a few L of d isplacement. Should be a simple-ish sw ap.

Maybe, but if anything I'd go for a cx7/speed3 swap.
